Nuts Bolts Washers google eyes wood buttons jewels beads thread wool/yarn bottle caps magnets Happy Monday. Brr. It sure was cold today. We stayed in this morning due to the cold and slippery conditions on the yard, however, we made it out in the afternoon. Today, we focused on our ice experiment and made observations on how fast the ice melted (small vs large ice chunks). We also spoke about the baptism of Christ and made Peace doves to commemorate this. Tomorrow, we will continue our ice study by using salt to speed up the melting process. As well, in French our focus on winter vocabulary will continue. We added a "Zen Den" to compliment our Safe Place. It includes materials to help the children when they are feeling like they need a little soothing. Thanks so much for sending in extra mittens. They really are helpful when those little hands get damp from snow play. Merci!!! Welcome back and Happy 2016! We are getting back into the swing of things in our kinder class. We love hearing stories about how our little bunnies spent their Christmas vacations at home and afar. Show and tell should be really exciting this Friday!!! In January, our focus in French will be on l'hiver, beginning sounds, simple retells and guided reading (SK). In math, we are focusing on number sense and beginning to add and subtract simple sums to 10. We are practising using a 10 frame in both large and small groups. Mrs. Shackleton brought in a big box today and sparked an inquiry on ice cream. The students turned it into an ice cream truck which moved about the class, selling all sorts of flavours. They used stones as money and an abacus to track their payments. Amazing learning and wondering!!! |
Mme Boudreau and Mrs. Shackleton
Hi! My name is Mme B and I have been teaching kindergarten for the last 10 years and teaching since 1996. This is my 4th year teaching full day kindergarten with the play-based model. I am learning so much from our students and look forward to each school day to see what new inquiries will emerge and grow! Archives
