Happy Friday. We hope that everyone is staying warm on this blustery day.
Our friends are really interested in mathematical reasoning lately, and have demonstrated some amazing problem solving at the block center. It started off when Sebastian created a "numerline" with the blocks. We responded by asking him to add numbers to it, which he did successfully with some help from his SK friends. Today, Matthew and Drew decided to make their own numberline to 7 and showed some amazing proportional reasoning when they discovered that 4 small blocks were the same size as one of the large blocks. Then, Matthew started added blocks together. "Look Mme B, 4 plus 1 makes 5!"
Our friends began a new inquiry today when Audrey brought in a book about baby animals. They were really interested in the nests for the baby birds and wanted to make their own. The students really were excited to use feathers and other loose parts to make their own nests and we were impressed with the results.
In French we continue to work on winter vocabulary to support the students' wonderings about the winter landscape and all the winter activities they enjoy.
Have a wonderful weekend. Stay warm!
